Starting Over

Cliff Swallow starting over on last year's collapsed nest. There is an explosion of Cliff Swallows this year - both welcome and very messy.

Violet-green Swallow in our nest box

Spring has truly sprung. We have Cliff Swallows, Tree Swallows, Barn Swallows and here Violet-green Swalllows all nesting around the house. The only one we are missing (although not common here) are Northern Rough-winged Swallows. There are Vaux Swifts getting reday to nest in our chimney again, both Amerian and Lesser Goldfinches, Northern Flickers, Downy Woodpeckers, Spotted Towhees, Song Sparrows, Anna's Hummingbird (fledged 2 young all ready), and Bewick's Wrens.

Mallard chicks on the pond, no young geese yet. Kingfishers have not arrived nor Green Herons but it is still early.
